Do I Qualify?

All legal residents can qualify for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act during the following time periods:

Annual Enrollment Period - For coverage starting January 2026, the Open Enrollment period is November 1 2025 – December 15, 2025. Individuals and families may also qualify for Special Enrollment Periods outside of Open Enrollment if they experience certain qualifying life events.

Special Enrollment Period - A time outside of the open enrollment period during which you and your family have a right to sign up for health coverage following certain life events that involve a change in family status (for example, marriage or birth of a child) or loss of other job-based health coverage.

Need health insurance outside of one of these periods?
Simply select "I do not have a qualifying life event but would like to shop for Short Term Plans" when asked if you have a qualifying life event.

Additional enrollment qualifications:

  • All applicants must be legal residents within the state and plan service area. Non-citizen residents of the United States must provide proof of legal residency in the United States.
  • Dependent children of the applicant or enrolling spouse/domestic partner must be under the age required by the applicable state laws and regulations. You can find the age limit in the enrollment application for your state of residence.
